Dreams and Aspirations is a theme that essentially describes what is lacking to Esmeraldeños, and what they are actually doing and working for to obtain it. Dreams and Aspirations include: Desired Non­Tangible Assets, Desired Assets, and Educating the next generation. Many Esmeraldeños desire more personal belongings or a house that belongs to them and that they do not have to rent. However, they also aspire to give a good quality education to the next generation, which is something that is often linked to landing a job at the oil refinery.
